Being an instrumentation site, we can hardly not mention LabVIEW from National Instruments, the pioneers of visual environments for virtual instrument development and undoubtedly the most popular tool of it's kind in the world. Now at version
8, it supports a huge variety of instrumentation and scientific requirements including networking and Internet technologies, measurement analysis and digital signal processing. As well as Windows, the LabVIEW development environment is also available for Solaris, Linux and Mac OS based platforms. At the time of writing, the LabVIEW Base package (Windows) was priced at US$995 whilst LabVIEW Professional (Windows) was priced at US$3,495 if you live in the United States. Prices do vary from country to country so check the NI web site for the latest pricing in your country of residence.
